Allergy and Immunology

Allergy and immunology is a branch of medicine that studies:

  • Allergic diseases, such as asthma, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, food and drug allergies

  • And the functions and disorders of the immune system, including primary and secondary immunodeficiencies, and autoimmune processes.

This field combines the assessment and treatment of two key systems:

  • The body's regulatory and defense mechanisms (immunity)

  • And abnormal reactions to environmental factors or the body’s own tissues (allergies, autoimmune diseases).

🔬 Common laboratory tests used in this field include:

  • Immunoglobulins (IgE, IgG, IgA, IgM)

  • Specific allergen testing

  • Autoantibody analysis

  • Evaluation of immune system components (CD3, CD4, CD8, complement system, etc.)
