Vazha Iverieli

Founder of the Enmedic Clinic and a pioneer of Georgian endocrinology, Professor Vazha Iverieli is one of the most prominent figures in the history of Georgian medical science. His work and innovative approaches are still regarded as a cornerstone of academic and practical medicine.

Born in Poti, Vazha Iverieli graduated from Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1946 and began his medical career at the Republican Central Clinical Hospital. He later served as an assistant and postgraduate researcher at the Department of Physiology at Telavi Medical Institute, and continued his studies in Leningrad, where he defended his doctoral dissertation in 1953 on the topic "The Impact of Functional Disorders of the Higher Nervous System on the Heart."

The majority of his career was dedicated to leading the Department of Endocrinology at the Tbilisi Institute for Advanced Medical Training. Professor Iverieli was not only a leading clinical endocrinologist but also made numerous significant contributions to the development of the field. His research on endocrine gland disorders and diabetes treatment methods remains an invaluable resource in the Georgian medical community.

Professor Iverieli authored 120 scientific papers and 7 monographs, earning him numerous awards and prestigious honors, including the title of Honored Scientist of Georgia (1980) and the Order of Honor (1998). He also served as the President of the Georgian Diabetic Association and Chairman of the Georgian Scientific Society of Endocrinologists, where he actively worked on healthcare reforms and system improvements.

Today, the "Enmedic" Clinic, bearing Professor Iverieli's name, represents not only his distinguished legacy but also a vision for the future — built on professionalism, modern approaches, and evidence-based medical principles.
