Diabetes management in children – State screening program

Within the program, the component for serving children with diabetes includes the following services:
▪️ Endocrinologist consultation/monitoring – 4 times per year;
▪️ Complete blood count – 2 times per year;
▪️ Urinalysis – 2 times per year;
▪️ Urine test for microalbuminuria – once per year;
▪️ Neurologist consultation / neuropathic examination – once per year;
▪️ Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test using capillary blood (quarterly) – 4 times per year;
▪️ Monitoring of diabetes-related eye diseases (including fundus biomicroscopy with pupil dilation, or 7-field stereoscopic fundus photography with mydriasis, or 2-field fundus photography with or without mydriasis, or direct or indirect ophthalmoscopy) – 2 times per year;
▪️ Medical education for patients and their parents – 4 times per year;
▪️ Physical rehabilitation, if requested by the patient – up to 10 times per year;
▪️ If necessary, issuance of medical certificates and prescriptions for patients not requiring medication dose adjustments.
The cost of these services is fully covered by the state and does not require any co-payment from the patient.
